OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said here on Wednesday the thieves, plunderers and dacoits had looted the national resources, adding that now they must be held accountable. If they are not taken to task, the soul of Allama Muhammad Iqbal would feel pain, the Chief Minister said while talking to reporters at the Mazar of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal after offering Fateha at his mausoleum. Their loot and plunder have brought Pakistan on the verge of disaster. If strict accountability of these thieves and looters was not held, the souls of Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal and lakhs of Muslims who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan will be perturbed in their graves. He said his party had a clear stance regarding recovery of looted money from those who looted national resources and giving them deterrent punishment. The chief minister felt offended when a reporter asked him if he would declare his assets as demanded by PTI chief Imran Khan. Stop delivering lecturers to me, he told the questioner, adding that he had already declared his assets on November 26, 2007 upon his return to the country. He said that today was the birth day of poet of the East Allama Muhammad Iqbal and We are here to pay homage to him. He said that Allama Iqbal was a great philosopher and poet who showed a new ray of hope to the Muslims of Sub-Continent through his poetry and promoted the values like national dignity and pride. He said that the best way to pay homage to Hakim-ul-Umat is to follow his ideals and thoughts. He said that a delegation from our great brother Islamic country Turkey was present here which is pupil of Iqbal in real sense. He said that the Turkish people by following the thoughts and verses of Iqbal have made marvellous development through hardworking and honesty and now Turkey has become a strong economic power of the world. He said that if we also follow the thoughts of Iqbal in real sense, not only the shortcomings for the last 64 years can be removed but we can achieve the status of a dignified nation in the world and lost image of the country can be restored. Earlier, he visited Mazar-e-Iqbal, laid floral wreath and offered Fateha. Delegation of Turkish businessmen currently visiting Punjab was also present on this occasion. Meanwhile, Shahbaz said that workers were precious asset of the party and they should support him for service to the masses and resolution of their problems. He said this while addressing party workers at Model Town. Shahbaz urged the workers to come forward for removing social disparities and eliminating excesses, injustice and corruption. BASTI: The CM has said that if the national resources were utilized honestly and the journey of construction and development, residential projects costing trillion of rupees could be started for the poor in Pakistan. He said this while inaugurating a model Basti Shahbaz Nagar constructed for the residents of Kachi Abadies in Faisalabad. He also announced setting up of girls college and vocational training institute for providing modern skills to the boys and girls.
