LAHORE - Pakistan Christian National Party (PCNP) on Sunday staged a protest demonstration outside Lahore Press club and demanded exemplary punishment for the accused involved in killing a Christian couple at Kot Radha Kishan.

Several Christians gathered outside the Press club and chanted slogans against government and accused involved in killing the couple. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans. Chairman PCNP Joseph Francis said that Christians were being murdered and their properties were being burnt for last many years, adding that government had not taken any action against the accused.

“This has aggravated the situation, due to which a series of Christian killing has been started,” he added.

Marton Javed Michel said that the incident had breached the religious harmony between both of the religions. He added that Christians were feeling insecure after recent incident, forewarning that if government did not bring the accused to justice Christians would remain feeling insecure.

He also said that the culprits behind the killings were bringing bad name to country as well as religion of Islam.

Sajjad Maseeh, 27, and his wife Shama Bibi, 24, were set ablaze on November 4 by a mob of at least 1,200 people after rumours circulated that they had burned verses from the Quran. They allegedly wrapped the pregnant mother in cotton so that she would catch fire more easily, one of their family members and a eye witness said.
