Allam Iqbal day was marked at the inaugural ceremony of a school Knowledge & Sciences here at Singor village, some 7-km away from here.

District Officer (DO) Education Mueenuddin Khattak was chief guest on the occasion while there ceremony was presided over by KPK Deputy Advocate General Rahimullah.

Addressing the ceremony, SKS Director Muhammad Karim said that he belonged to a remote area of Khot valley and had got his education till metric level from high school Khot. He said that later he left for Karachi but he found a great difference in education system and standard between Chitral and Karachi. “That’s why I decided to launch this education system which will be monitored online and will be upgraded to O level,” he pointed out, adding that the school would render quality education to students of the area and scholarships would be offered to talented students.

The speakers regretted that Chitral was on fourth number in education in KP having a large number of school and college but no full-fledged university.

Government Centennial Model High School Principal Ameer Wali, former AKES director education Liaqat Ali Khan, Haji Yar Khan Assistant Director of Allama Iqbal Open University, District Health Officer Dr Israrullah Khan, All Teachers Association Chitral President Ziauddin, Wazir Muhammad chairman Chitral community development Network, Insaf Student Federation President Israrullah and other paid rich tribute to poet of the East Allama Iqbal.

The speakers said that knowledge was power and no nation could develop without quality education. They stressed the need for understanding philosophy of Dr Allama Iqbal who taught self-assessment (Khudi). “Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal not only awoke the Muslims from deep slumber but also taught them the way to success,” they said, adding that today Dr Iqbal’s philosophy could lead the nation and help it steer the country out of all crises.
