ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation secretary Ijaz-ur-Rehman announced Pakistan team would participate in the World Bowling Championship in Abu Dhabi which would be played in the Khalifa International Bowling Center at Zayed Sports City.

Ijaz said about 134 countries bowlers would be in action for the tenpin bowlings most prestigious event and the event would be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

He said the tournament is held after every two years, first for men and then for women the following year. “Six players would represent country in singles, doubles, trios and team event, which include myself, M Hussain Chatha, Fazil Mania, Ahmer Abbas Saldera, Sultan Durrani and Umar Khalid while Saqib Shahzad would accompany the team as manager, while PSB DG Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera would be chef-de-mission.”

Ijaz said after inauguration of first-ever bowling club of the federation now things were quite different. “In the past we don't have any club where we could practice and had to rely solely on private club, which was in very pathetic condition. But now I have established Leisure City Bowling Club for the players of twin cities and for the past 1-month the players are playing here and enjoying world's latest equipped modern club facilities, which would help them a great deal in coming international events.”

Ijaz  said there were bright chances for Pakistan in world event and the selected team had already won GCC Tenpin Bowling Championship 2014 in Dubai and was fully prepared for the mega event,.

“I am conducting amateur championship from today and also 8th national championship from 25th to 31st December in Islamabad in which for the very first time in the history of Pakistan tenpin bowling services and other affiliated departments would take part and we would offer around Rs 1 million as cash prize.”
