Our civil and military leadership is successfully waging a decisive war to eliminate permanently, the elements of extremism and menace of terrorism from this holy land. It is the need of the hour that not only all state machinery should duly facilitate this fight, but all the civil society and civic professionals should also extend their help. Media no doubt plays an important role in forming public opinion and in formulation of appropriate environment for war like ventures.
PEMRA has rightly sensitized the media houses to refrain from coverage of proscribed groups. Responsible media coverage is an integral point of the National Action Plan that needs to be fully implemented for positive and prompt results. Media houses and journalist should fully comply by these restrictions in the larger National interest and should make it their policy not to give media coverage to any anti state elements.
