KASUR/ GUJRANWALA - Two persons were killed and 14 others sustained injuries in separate accidents triggered by the prevailing thick fog here the other day, as per police and rescue sources.
In Kasur, Saleem was driving a chicken truck and was on the way to Ellahabad from Khuddian. Near Kacha Pacca, he couldn’t guess the distance and the truck rammed into a trailer from the rear. As a result, Saleem was killed on the spot.
In another incident, Sharif of Zaheerabad Colony told Chunian Police that his two sons - Rizwan and Salman - were on their way on Changa Manga Road on a motorbike. Near Wapda office, their bike collided with two other motorbikes coming from opposite direction. The pileup, he said, left his both sons with critical injuries. The elder one, Rizwan, succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to hospital. The two motorbikers, on the other hand, fled away. Police registered a case. Similarly, motorcyclist Sharif sustained critical injuries in head-on collision with another bike near Balloki Morr.
In Gujranwala, at least 12 passengers were injured in a pileup involving a dumper, passenger bus and Toyota van here on Hafizabad Road. The incident occurred to poor visibility amidst thick smog. The 12 injured included Ajmal, Tahir, Khushi Muhammad, Jamil, Riaz, Majid, Arshad, Ghulam Mustafa, Sabir and others. They were rushed to DHQ Hospital by Rescue 1122.
