Security beefed up in Sindh after Quetta blast

KARACHI - The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh AD Khawaja has ordered that security be beefed up further in the wake of blast in Quetta on Thursday.

A police statement here said that the IGP Sindh has directed for extraordinary security at all the important places in the province such as sensitive installation, government and semi-government buildings, railways stations, airports, industrial and commercial centers, places of worships and markets etc.

The IGP also called for stepping up snap checking, patrolling besides surprise checking and enhancement in deployment.

Pillion riding banned

The Sindh government has in exercise of powers conferred under Section 144 (6) CrPC imposed ban on pillion riding of motorcycle during the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) with effect from November 9 to 10 in province.

The ban shall not be applicable on the women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizen, journalist, personnel of law enforcement agencies/security agencies in uniform and employees of the essential services, said a statement on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the government imposed ban on use of heli-cams for video recording of all the rituals (Majlis/ Processions/ Waiz) relating to the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) on November 10, by the media channels or any other person or organization in the province.

The ban is imposed under the Section 144 (6) CrPC, said a statement on Thursday.

The SHOs of concerned police stations are authorised to register the complaints under Section 188 PPC in writing for the violation of Section 144 CrPC against the violators.
