KARACHI - Karachi Traffic Police issued traffic management plan for the metropolis during Chehelum of Hazrat Imam Hussain being observed on Friday.
The plan has been chalked out in accordance to the main procession timings, marking its beginning from Nishtar Park towards Hussainiya Irania. AIGP - Traffic in a statement Thursday announced that special arrangements have also been made to facilitate masses during the Alum procession to be taken out from Martin Road Imam Bargah at 9am and conclude at Nishtar Park by noon.
The Alam procession was said to merge into the main procession at Nishter Park, which will pass through Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Road, Father James Road, Mehfil Shah Khorasan, MA Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, Preedy Street and passing through part of Saddar will revert to MA Jinnah Road moving towards Boulton Market, Bombay Bazar, Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road and Imam Bargah Hussainia Irania.
With the motive to facilitate, motorists and all other commuters, as soon the main procession will begin moving out from Nishtar Park, all traffic coming from down town areas will be diverted towards Soldier Bazar (Bahadur Yar Jung Road), Coast Guard off Anklesyria intersection to Jubilee or Nishtar Road, said the Traffic department official. Traffic coming from Nazimabad towards MA Jinnah road will be diverted towards Nishtar Road via Lasbella Chowk so as to reach their destination via Garden.
All traffic flow from Liaquatabad will be turned towards Altaf Barelvi Road via Liaquatabd post office, reaching old sabzi mandi off university road passing through Jail chowrangi, New MA Jinnah Road and or Kashmir Road reaching PPP Chowrangi and/or Shahrah e Quaideen and then to Shahrah e Faisal.
Those who may prefer to take New MA Jinnah route may reach Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road and then with those coming from Ziauddin Road or Din Muhammad Wafai Road will be diverted towards I.I. Chundrigar road.
Traffic flow from Super Highway and Gulberg will be diverted towards Liaqutabad 10 and while that from Nazimabad - Chowrangi (Two) will be turned towards Habib Bank in SITE area, Shershah Suri and Mauripur road to reach down town.
Vehicles reaching city via National Highway will be required to adopt the route of Rashid Minhas Road - Hasan Square link.
