Traffic situation in the streets of Karimabad is posing a serious threat to pedestrians. The adjoining roads leading to Meena Bazar and Ziaud Din Hospital are becoming increasingly difficult for pedestrians to cross due to increasing traffic congestion. More than seven traffic signals have been installed in the area but none is operational. Because of the absence of any operational signal, pedestrians are exposed to the danger of accidents as they cross these roads with vehicles whizzing past them on all sides, horns blaring. The problem is mainly caused by traffic convergence at Ayesha Manzil and Ziaud Din Hospital roundabout. The vehicular flow to this area from Hussainabad and Liaquatabad has further deteriorated conditions. We need sizable presence of traffic police officers here to control traffic. -MUHAMMAD SHOAIB SHAKIR, Karachi, via e-mail, September 26.
