ISLAMABAD - ICT Administration has disposed off 83 unclaimed vehicles impounded by the Capital Police in the jurisdiction of various police stations through an open auction that was held at Rural Development Markaz, Tarlai on October 7 and 8. A spokesman of District Administration said that the laid down legal procedure has been completed while disposing off 83 unclaimed vehicles. The Islamabad Police had impounded these vehicles under section 550 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Amer Ahmed Ali who is also the District Magistrate had constituted auction committee for this purpose. Nazarat Officer/Magistrate (Rural) Islamabad, Kamran Ali Cheema has said that the auction of these impounded vehicles was held in a transparent manner through an open biding after completing the laid down legal procedure. He further informed that as the details of these impounded vehicles were received from Islamabad Police, the District Magistrate Islamabad advertised these details in the leading newspapers as required under the law. Thereafter, a final notice for auction of these impounded vehicles (through open biding) was advertised in the leading newspapers for the information of general public. Nazarat Officer/Magistrate (Rural) Islamabad Kamran Cheema also said that there were complaints of misuse of these impounded vehicles, the administration has successfully put an end to such complaints by disposing of these vehicles through auction in a transparent manner after completing the laid down legal procedure.
