ISLAMABAD - Presidential Spokesman Farhatullah Babar has said that the appointment of NAB Chairman is in accordance with the law and has been made after a lot of consultation. Talking to the Nawa-i-Waqt on Saturday, Babar said the PML-N was against the appointment of Justice (R) Deedar Hussain Shah, saying he had been elected as an MPA of the Pakistan Peoples Party. He recalled that Justice Rahmat Hussain Jaffery had given Nawaz Sharif life sentence in plane hijacking case at which Musharraf govt had filed an appeal in the Sindh High Court to convert the punishment into death penalty. But Musharraf govt, fearing that Deedar Hussain Shah, the then chief Justice Sindh High Court, might not support the appeal, appointed Justice Shah as a judge of the Supreme Court, he added. Nawaz Sharif, on that development, had taken the stance that the judge, expected to do justice, had been sent to the apex court. It is strange that every decision of the President House is made controversial, Babar said. He vowed that the govt would continue to follow its policy and the opposition might do the same.
