ISLAMABAD - Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman during his meeting with Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani expressed his partys concern against the government for not taking them on board while taking important decisions. In the meeting which was held at PMs House on Saturday both Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Prime Minister Gilani discussed overall political situation in the country, Kashmir issue and the appointment of Chairman NAB. Sources in JUI-F informed TheNation that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was critical of the Govts working mode wherein the coalition partners were not taken into confidence while taking important decisions and recorded his protest as to why they were not taken into confidence while making such an important appointment. PM assured the Maulana that the Govt would meet all the promises made with its allies and they would definitely be taken on board while making policy decisions. Explaining his partys position, he said that the requisite constitutional and legal formalities for the appointment of Chairman NAB were met and the reservations of coalition partners in this connection would be duly addressed. Premier Gilani lauded the performance of the Kashmir Committee, condemned the Indian atrocities on Kashmiris and said India could not stop the indigenous struggle of the Kashmiris through negative tactics. He said peace in South Asia was linked to Kashmir issue. He apprised the Maulana of reasons behind appointing Justice (Retd) Deedar Hussain Shah as NAB chief and said that the appointment was made in line with the orders of SC and no illegal means were adopted. It is pertinent to mention here that the other coalition partners including Awami National Party and Muttahida Qoumi Movement had already expressed their concern over the appointment of Chairman NAB, as both these parties were not consulted before making this very important appointment.
