LAHORE Pakistans junior tennis sensation Samir Iftikhar strolled into the final of the ITF Junior World Ranking second Zain Bahrain Open which was being held at the Bahrain Tennis club Manama. Samir moved past his Iranian rival Amirvala Madanchi in the straight set 6-1, 6-0 showing magnificent court craft. Samir will now meet Markos Kalovelonis of Greece in a battle for the title. The match is going to be telecast live in the entire UAE, Mid East and around the world on the Bahrain National Satellite Channel. Another Pakistan ladies tennis player Ushna Suhail went down to Indian rival in the singles 6-3, 6-0. Samir was in aggressive form on Saturday (yesterday) and did not give any chance to let the Iranian settle down. He played dazzling tennis which left his opponent hapless with exhibition of all-around game which consisted of big serves, powerful grounds strokes and return of serves. Samir, who follows his renowned cousin Aisamul Haq, is the second junior player from Pakistan since 1998 after Aisamul Haq to win back-to-back ITF Junior World Ranking titles in Syria and Amman last August. In special a post match talk from Bahrain, he said: I am very happy to reach the final and am fully motivated and inspired by Aisams success and want to follow his footsteps. I shall try my best to bring the title to Pakistan. This match is very important for me as it will be televised live and will also improve my ranking, he added.
