Admiral (R) Fasih Bukhari, nominated Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at Prime Minister's House on Monday and discussed responsibilities of his new assignment. The prime minister congratulated Admiral Fasih Bukhari for his nomination as NAB chairman and hoped that he would fulfill his responsibilities in a transparent manner. Rtd Admiral Bokhari was nominated as chairman of NAB by President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday and letters were written to the prime minister and leader of the opposition to fulfill the constitutional requirements needed for the appointment of a NAB chairman. Admiral Bukhari assured the prime minister that he would do his level best to fulfill his new responsibilities and come up to the expectation of the nation. Admiral Bukhari remained Naval Chief from 1997 to October 1999. He has been appointed in place of Justice (Retd) Deedear Hussain Shah as NAB chairman whose appointment was declared null and void by the Supreme Court on a petition by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
