KARACHI - Nine people were killed in separate incidents of violence and mishaps here on Sunday. In the first incident, two young men were killed in Jamshaid Road area. Police said that the incident took place at Baloch Para, where two Zulfiqar Baloch and Abdul Ghaffar Baloch fell out over a pity issue and shot at each other at the same time. As a result, they sustained critical wounds and taken to Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors pronounced them dead. The police handed over the bodies to the families after autopsy. However, a Karachi Goods Carrier Association leader was gunned down in an act of target killing in SITE area. Police officials said that the incident took place near Gulbai Chowrangi within SITE B Section police precincts. The deceased was identified as Ghulam Ali, 52. He was riding a car when two armed bikers intercepted him and opened fire on him. SHO Shamsuz Zaman said the deceased was shot once on his chest and died on the way to Civil Hospital, Karachi. He said according to initial investigation, it was an act of target killing as culprits did not take away anything while fleeing. The SHO said that Lyaris gangsters were behind the incident. The incident caused panic and fear among the transporters and KGCA announced strike on Monday. In the third incident, a man killed his wife at New Karachi in the remits of Sir Syed police limits. The Police said that Sitara Perveen was strangulated to death by Afzal while her husband earlier pretended that she committed suicide. The police questioned Afzal and taken him into custody where the accused confessed to have killed his wife over domestic issue. The deceased left a six years old daughter behind. Separately, Sukhan police found a bullet-riddled body from the Rickshaw parked at Rehri Goth. Muhammad Aftab, a resident of Shairpao Colony, used to run Rickshaw when armed kidnapped him and shot dead at the said place. The police suspected his personal enemy was behind the murder and handed over the body to the family.
