ISLAMABAD: All the employees of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), including those on contract and daily wages, will get special Eid Allowance, besides increase in their health and housing facilities.
An announcement to this effect was made by the University's vice chancellor Prof. Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of newly-elected office-bearers of Officers Welfare Association (OWA) held here on Wednesday at the university's main campus.
The existing health and housing facilities for the employees will be upgraded. "A mother-and-Child welfare centre will be established soon to facilitate the employees' families," he said, adding that an Employees Selection board will be meeting regularly for quick their promotion in the next grades, as admissible under the relevant rules.
Dr Sangi assured that the employees' welfare will always be top priority and special incentives and awards will be given to those who provide best services to the students and necessary steps are also being taken for training and capacity building of the employees, so that the teaching process and services for the students could be further improved.
Dr Sangi said that University's Finance Committee has approved in principle a 'housing scheme' for the residence of University's employees, it was agreed that University would provide necessary funding for implementation of the housing scheme.–Staff Reporter
About the officers club, he said it would be named after "AIOU Foundation", in order to project the cause of the employees. The club will also be available for the University's retired employees as well. A complex will also be established at the main campus to facilitate employees' children.
