LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Wednesday granted protective bail to senior lawyer and Supreme Court advocate, Salman Akram Raja, for two weeks in a case registered against him on the complaint of the Supreme Court registrar for sending allegedly “threatening” messages to Justice Jawwad S Khawaja.

Justice Muhammad Kazim Raza Shamsi granted bail to Mr Raja till October 22 to enable him to appear before the trial court concerned. Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Advocate Abid Saqi and many other senior lawyers appeared before the court in the bail case. The counsels submitted that a case had been registered on October 8 at Secretariat Police Station, Islamabad, under Telegraph Act 25D. The case was lodged on a complaint from an assistant registrar of the Supreme Court for allegedly sending “threatening” messages to Justice Jawwad S Khawaja through a mobile text message. They added that the case was registered with a mala fide intention.
