ISLAMAAD: Riphah College of Rehabilitation Sciences (RCRS), a constituent institute of Riphah International University organised a commemorative ceremony to offer prayers for the departed souls of those who died in the devastative earthquakes in 2005.
Director of Riphah College of Rehabilitation Sciences Dr Asghar Khan while addressing the gathering said there was a severe shortage of Physical Therapists at the time of the earthquakes. Destruction was wide ranged and the number of those who suffered was so large that minimum two hundred Physical Therapists were required to treat them but hardly about fifty Therapists could be mustered from all over the country.
It was then that the idea of establishing a College of Physical Therapy was conceived and established, he added. He expressed satisfaction over the fact that now hundreds of Physical Therapists were available in the country as many other Educational Institutes had also started producing Physical Therapist Graduates who can now deal with any challenge of such kind. The ceremony was attended by a large number of the university students and faculty members. –Staff Reporter
