LAHORE - Like other parts of the globe, World Mental Health Day will be observed across the country on Thursday (today) with the aim to raise public awareness about psychological problems and diseases. The theme of World Mental Health Day in 2013 is “Mental health and older adults”
Public sector and private healthcare institutions and civil society organizations will arrange seminars, workshops and walks to mark the event.
In Lahore, Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMS) has planned various programmes to mark the event. A walk will be arranged at 9:00 am from PIMS to Jillani Park while seminar and posters competition will be held at 10:30 am. Provincial Ministers Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Khalil Tahir Sindhu and MPA Kh Salman Rafique will be the chief guest at the occasion.
A seminar will be arranged at Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital, Multan Road. Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar will be the chief guest. Medical experts, intellectuals, dignitaries from various walks of life and NOGs would also address the seminar. Every year on October 10, The WHO joins in celebrating the World Mental Health Day. The day is celebrated at the initiative of the World Federation of Mental Health and WHO supports this initiative through raising awareness on mental health issues using its strong relationships with the ministries of health and civil society organizations across the globe.
