Islamabad - A forestry official was found hanging from a tree yesterday —the second government servant to have been found murdered in the capital in the last ten days.

His body was discovered close to Secretariat Police Station limits just 10 days after a customs intelligence official was found dead in sector G-10 of the city.

Muhammad Jameel was serving as Range Officer Forests in the CDA. According to the police, his body was found hanging from a tree in Kourhyaan Wala Chowk. The duty officer at Secretariat Police Station Ghulam Murtaza told The Nation that a police party on patrol spotted an unattended motorbike at Murree road near Rawal Dam and when they went deep in the jungle, they found the victim’s body. The man had no enmity with anyone, relatives told the police.

This is the second case reported in the last couple of weeks. A custom officer was found hanging from a tree on September 29. Muzzamal Kiyani, from Tarlai area of the Islamabad, left for his office but did not return home. Police had been searching for him after the family reported his missing. A piece of rope was found near his body.

Meanwhile, Islamabad police have arrested 12 outlaws from various areas and recovered one car, five liter wine, narcotics and weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said. According to details, Bhara Kahu police nabbed Riaz and recovered thousands of crackers from him while an Afghan immigrant Ahmed Khan residing illegally in the country was also apprehended. Bani Gala police nabbed Ghazi Abbass and recovered two pistols from him while anti-car lifting cell recovered a tempered Honda City car (LEA-1244) from an accused Azam. Loi Bher police arrested an Afghan national identified as Gulistan for having one Kalashnikov.

Koral police apprehended a wanted proclaimed offender Muhammad Kahliq involved in a murder case at PS Koral. Cases have been registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is underway.
