At least 18 persons including four women were killed in various incidents of enmity, violence and road accidents over in different areas over the past 48 hours.

In Chiniot, four persons were killed and three other sustained multiple injuries when a speeding dumper hit a car on Pindi Bhattian Road on Friday.

The ill-fated car was on the way Athara Hazari, Jhang from Lahore. Rescue 1122 reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies and injured to District Headquarters Hospital Chiniot.

In Jhang, six persons including a woman and a girl were killed in different incidents of enmity and mishaps over the past 24 hours.

In Mauza Dall Morr in remit of 18-Hazari Police, a police constable was crushed to death. Mudassir Iqbal, 20, had recently joined the Punjab Police as constable. He was going to Jhang on his bike when suddenly a tractor-trolley hit the bike. Resultantly, he sustained fatal injuries and died instantly. In Jhang city, a young man committed suicide. One Qasim, a resident of Mohallah Iqbal Nagar often quarrelled with his wife. The other night, the couple again exchanged harsh words at which Qasim became disappoint. In a fit of rage, he committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope.

In another incident which happened on Jhang-Multan Road near Haveli Bahadur Shah, a woman was killed by the hit of a speeding truck. According to available sources, Dai Sakina, his son Sajjad and his wife, residents of Mauza Khaki Lakhi were going to Jhang on a bike. When they reached near Haveli Bahadur Shah, a speeding truck, coming from opposite direction, hit the bike. Resultantly, motorcycle riders sustained serious injuries and Sakina succumbed to her injuries on the scene. Her son and daughter-in-law were admitted to DHQ hospital Jhang.

On Pattan Road, a speeding car crushed to death a 12-year-old girl. Aneesa, 12, was crossing road when a speeding car crushed her. The police arrested the car driver, however, heirs of the deceased forgave him and refused to take any legal action against him.

Similarly, a motorcyclist was killed. Reportedly, Falak Sher, a resident of Waryyam Wala was going on a bike when suddenly his Shalwar entangled in the bike chain. Resultantly, he fell down and sustained critical wounds. He was admitted to DHQ hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

In another mishap which occurred on Jhang-Bhakkar Road near 18-Hazari, a young man was killed when a car hit him. Irfan, 35, resident of Mauza Rasheedpur in the limits of 18-Hazari Police, was travelling on a motorcycle-rickshaw when suddenly a speeding car hit the rickshaw. As a result Irfan sustained serious injuries and breathed his last on the way to hospital.

In Sargodha, two siblings - a youth brother and his sister - were killed in collision between rickshaw and motorcycle here on Friday.

Police said that the accident took place near Commerce College Sargodha when the speeding motorcycle collided with a rickshaw. The two siblings, riding the motorcycle, died on the spot. The dead bodies were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

In Sahiwal, an elderly woman died and her son-in-law injured in an accident that took place near Chak 14/71 on Katcha Noor Shah Road. Hajiran, 60, died on the spot and Bashir Baloch sustained injured when the bike they were travelling on skidded of the road.

In another accident near Kotla Adeeb Shaheed on GT Road, a car (MN-5251) of a government officer crushed a pedestrian and another was injured. The labourers - Muhammad Nawaz died and Azhar Iqbal injured seriously. The police have arrested the car driver identified as Waris and impounded the car. Similarly, two motorcyclists were killed and four other injured in a pile-up among six motorcycles. Shakir Din and Bao Waheed died. The injured have been admitted to hospital.

Kasur, a man was brutally murdered by his opponents who later tried to pose it as a traffic accident to hide their crime.

According to Sadia, widow of deceased Babar Ali, accused Shakir and his accomplices took away her husband from home. Later in the evening, they informed her father on the phone that Babar had died in a road accident near Theeng Morr (Ellahabad).

She said that when they reached there, they saw Babar’s dead body with torture marks outside a private hospital. She said that now she has come to know that Shakir and his accomplices had brutally murdered her husband with a pre-planning. The police are investigating.

Similarly, father of two was crushed under the wheels of a truck near Ellahabad by-pass. Abdul Ghafoor, 35, was on the way to Mauza Dhatay on a bike when a rashly-driven truck struck him down. He was seriously wounded and rushed to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries in the mid-way. The truck driver managed to escape from the scene. The police have registered a case after confiscating the truck.
