Oleg. N. Avdeev, Consul General of Russian Federation, Alexery Glinskiy, Deputy Trade Representative, Trade Commission of Russia and Alexey Kudryavtsev, Consultant, Trade Mission of Russia called on S. M. Muneer, CE, TDAP at his office and discussed with him regarding visit of trade delegation which recently visited Russia.

SM Muneer, CE TDAP, welcomed the guests and informed them regarding his visit to Russia where he received warm welcome by the Russian side. He informed the Consul General that Pakistani exporters’ face problem of high duties by the customs authorities because they charge duties on weight instead of price quoted by them.

Muneer informed the guests that TDAP has augmented its efforts encouraging Pakistani companies to benefit from the new economic realities in Russian Federation especially the volume of agricultural products like fruit, vegetable and meat can be increased considerably as Russia is consciously striving to replace its food imports from the EU countries. In order to achieve optimal gain offered by the situation and the directive of the Finance Minister, the TDAP organized a 22 member’s high level trade delegation of Pakistan Agro Food producers to Russian Federation led by the CE TDAP.

He also highlighted that TDAP organised Pakistan Pavilion in the international exhibition of food products “World Food Moscow” held in Moscow, Russia from September 14-17, 2015 in which twelve (12) leading and potential Pakistani companies of Rice, processing food, fruits, vegetables, meat and fish are exhibiting under the umbrella of TDAP.

SM Muneer also pointed out the problem in issuance of business visa to Pakistani businessmen. Consul General of Russian Federation ensured that they will provide maximum facilitation to the Pakistan businessmen and will try to issue visa in the shortest possible time.

Consul General of Russian Federation stated that trade between Pakistan and Russia is being done indirectly, by sending the products through other countries, due to non-existence of the banking channels.

The volume of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Russian Federation can be increased by opening of bank branches in Pakistan and similarly Pakistani bank branches in Russian Federation.

CE, TDAP also highlighted the issues of registration of Pakistan exporters for meat, poultry, sea food, dairy products etc with Russian Phytosanitary and Veterinary Services.

It was agreed to enhance trade activities between both the countries by participation in international exhibitions and exchange of delegations.
