LAHORE - Office record, furniture, and other valuables were reduced to ashes after huge fire broke out in the Sui Gas offices located on Guru Mangat Road in Gulberg on Tuesday. A rescue official on Tuesday night said that at least four firefighting units took part in the operation and managed to put out the blaze after hectic efforts. It was not clear yet what caused the blaze. However, firefighters believe the fire erupted due to short-circuiting in one of the offices on ground floor in the evening. Pillars of smoke were visible from a reasonable distance shortly after the fire erupted in the multi-storey building. The incident also triggered panic in the commercial locality. According to rescue workers, the fire was under control and the cooling process was underway till late Tuesday.
Rescue response report
The Punjab Emergency Service (PES) Rescue-1122 responded to 872 road accidents in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these RTCs 04 people died, whereas 971 were injured. Out of the injured 589 were seriously injured requiring shifting to different hospitals. Whereas, 378 with minor injuries who were treated at the incident site. The statistics show that 223 accidents were reported in Lahore with 221 victims, 75 in Multan with 85 injured and 73 in Faisalabad with 86 victims.
According to the data, 716 motorbikes, 111 auto-rickshaws, 81 motorcars, 43 vans, 11 passenger buses, 27 trucks and 107 other type of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in these accidents.
