Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Tuesday directed all chambers and affiliated trade associations across the country to donate generously towards flood victims for their early rehabilitation.

FPCCI Chief Zakaria Usman told APP Tuesday unprecedented flash flood had wrought havoc and caused large scale devastation. He said that government alone can not handle the alarming situation arising out of super flood which rendered millions of poor people homeless and snatched their livelihood besides destroying million of standing agricultural crops in addition to loss of human lives.

He made an impassioned appeal to all chambers, traders association and registered local unions of businessmen to come forward and join hand with agencies engaged in relief operation.

   He said that it is high time for all Pakistanis to help the marooned people.

   Chairman United Business Group,the largest alliance of chambers in the country, VP SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry and veteran trade leader, Iftikhar Ali Malik has also appealed to the business community to come forward for the help of their brethren during this hour of trial. He announced on the behalf of “United Business Group” that in the forthcoming annual elections of the all chamber of commerce and Industry throughout the country simple campaign would be launched and no dinner reception will be hosted and money to be spent on such events would be donated for the relief of flood affectees. He expressed deep concern and sorrow over the destruction of infrastructure, houses, buildings, displacement of countless affectees and loss of precious lives due to present flood rampaging.

Iftikhar who is also Chairman of chain of Mumtaz Bakhtawar Memorial Trust Hospitals announced that the Mumtaz Bakhtawar Hospitals would remain open for 24 hours and the trust has already put up camps to provide free medicines and treatment facilities to the affected people.
