Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed federal government to submit reply details about Neelum-Jehlum Project on a petition challenging surcharge being deducted in the electricity bills in the name of said project.

The petitioners through their counsel told the judge that the pubic was being forced to pay additional electricity bills in the name of Neelum Jehlum Project which was still pending.

The petitioners said that the surcharge in the electricity bills was illegally being deducted because it was far beyond the cost of the project. They also pointed out that the government was not disclosing the cost of the project and its time period for the completion.

They prayed to the court to stop recovery of the NJP surcharge from the public in the name of said project and direct the government to public facts about it. The proceedings adjourned till Nov 09.
