The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has launched a relief and rehabilitation campaign for flood affectees under the Punjab government flood emergency call.

UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan directed deans and directors to take every possible step in order to help the affectees here on Tuesday.

He said that in the first phase, edible and other daily-use items would be disbursed among the affected people especially in Faisalabad Division and Sahiwal Division.

He said that in the second phase, agricultural inputs including seed, fertilisers, pesticides and instruments would be given to the affectees in order to rehabilitate their lands for earning their livelihood. He said that the UAF students had started fundraising for the noble cause as the country was running through its difficult times.

He also said that the UAF had also become a partner with the Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department and Punjab Agricultural Extension Department in conducting joint efforts to provide livestock vaccination and medicines, covering both curative and preventive aspects in two divisions including Faisalabad and Sahiwal.

Talking about the food security, he said that it was need of the hour to adopt the modern agricultural practices.
