JI demands parliamentary body to probe polls rigging

MMA and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has said that the elections, held last month, were rigged and the government should constitute a parliamentary commission for an enquiry into find out the truth.

Addressing the MMA central council in Islamabad, he further said that the new governments had come into being but the ruling party’s lack of preparedness was being exposed.

He said that the increase in the electricity tariff, and gas prices would add to the problems of the masses. The JI Secretary General counseled the government not to interfere in provincial autonomy and rights of the provinces.

He further said that any attempt to disturb the madrissah system would prove to be a headache for the government. He called for clarifying the outline of the uniform education policy as simple announcements would create confusion.

He said that the Pak-China friendship had passed the test of time and the implementation of the CPEC was essential for the peace and stability in the region.
