Security of masses is our priority: Shehryar Afridi

Interior Minister Shehryar Afridi said on Monday that practical efforts are being made to provide of foolproof security to the people, set to visit sacred places in overseas countries.

Addressing a press conference, flanked by Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan, Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Qasim Souri and others after a meeting at Balochistan House, Afridi said that the security of these people was being prioritized.

“We are working as a team in new Pakistan and by adopting ‘Pakistan first’ approach, we are giving top preference to security of masses,” the interior minister said.

The minister, who visited Quetta and other cities of Balochistan the other day to discuss security of pilgrims, especially during Muharram, said that on the special directives of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, federal government would take solid measures for provision of all possible resources to facilitate pilgrims.

During his visit to Balochistan, Afridi also said that, he paid a short visit to Pak-Iran border city Taftan and asked the local authorities to facilitate pilgrims and ensure that they do not face any problems or difficulties, in accordance to their travelling schedules.

Afridi said that he also inspected immigration of pilgrims, so that their problems could be solved in a proper way, adding that the number of immigration desks at Taftan has also been increased to facilitate the pilgrims.

Lauding efforts and cooperation of Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Qasim Souri, Balochistan CM Usman Dar and others parliamentarians, the minister said he would visit every nook and corner of the province.

“Working as a team, we will not simply sit in offices; we would show results and utilize all resources in addressing provincial issues and facilitate people of Balochistan,” he maintained, adding that raising Balochistan means raising of Pakistan.
