KARACHI - A clash on Saturday killed the security guards of a renowned businessman Aqeel Karim Dhidi while three assailants also sustained injures during exchange of fire near Punjab Chowrangi in the limits of Clifton police station. Police said that the incident occurred at Block 8, Clifton, when both nephews of Dhidi including Faizan Dhidhi and Akbar Dhidi left their home in a car (ASR-176) and reached near Mooti Mosque where some gunmen intercepted the car and tried to abduct both of them. But they managed to flee and reached Clifton police station. Police registered an FIR 119/2010 and reached the crime scene with SIO Clifton police station, Nazar Abbas. Two security guards of Dhidi family including Ali Shah and Younus were with the police party when some 15 armed men in three cars intercepted the police party and started indiscriminate firing. Resultantly, exchange of fire left three people wounded including Faizan Dhidi and both the security guards, Ali Shah and Younus. They were rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Ali Shah and Younus succumbed to their injuries during treatment while Faizan Dhidi admitted with critical wounds. Police said that gunmen of Pir Shahani targeted them due to some old enmity. Three attackers including Aziz Chandio, Burhan Chandio and Manoj were also arrested with bullet wounds during exchange of fire and admitted in the hospital for medical aid. Police registered another FIR 120/2010 against the culprits on the complaint of Ameen Dhidi. Police source confirmed that the both influential parties have some mysterious disputes and registered cases in different police stations.
