Target-killings in Balochistan are now an everyday affair. The mass media daily reports killings of old settlers including respected educationists and accomplished technocrats from other provinces, particularly those from Punjab, that are targeted for murder. The government and its coalition partners, meanwhile, seem almost oblivious to this. One wonders at their callousness. Perhaps they are simply blinded by the lust to perpetuate themselves in power. Nothing else really matters for them? One is amazed by the fact not a single perpetrator of this heinous crime has been hauled up yet nor an FIR registered or investigation held? What good would this 18th amendment do in the country whose rulers are so ignorant of peoples plight, and if they know, so merciless? -NOOURE ZEENATE JEHON, Karachi, April 8.
