AFC praises PFF chief for game's progress

LAHORE The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has received praise from the highest order of the game in the world and in Asia for the work undertaken by the federation led by Syed Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat. And with initiation of Vision Asia, Pakistan soccer will scale new height. The standard of football in Pakistan is enhancing day by day and both, FTdTration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC), appreciating the games advancement in the country, said AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam. Pakistan have got one of the largest pool of footballers in various level and the number is growing with each passing day. The AFC in recognition of PFFs fine display included them in Vision Asia through which the PFF will get increased financial and technical support, stated Hammam, who appreciated the work of promotion carried out under Faisal Saleh Hayat. AFCs Vision India Director Imtiaz Rehman and AFC Vision Asia Department Director Michelle Chai returned back after supervising two-day Vision Asia Planning Workshop, chaired by PFF Vice President Syed Khadim Ali Shah, at FIFA Football House from April 6 to 7. It was the third visit of VA team after one-day pre-assessment visit on April 13, 2009 and second visit under Brendon Menton in the second week of June 2009. The delegation were briefed about the league structure, youth development program and the administrative activities of the PFF as well as the provincial and district structure also came under discussion during three meets. The interest of the AFC officials in the game in Pakistan shows that it has impressed the Asian body and they turned their focus of attention towards Pakistan. The AFC representatives had already visited Lahore for three Vision Asia meeting whose objective was to prepare the PFF for a successful future. The AFC delegation organised three meetings in Pakistan outlining a comprehensive programme for the development of Pakistan football, he added. He said that it is good that the PFF chief pledged his commitment to Vision Asia and its principles of development and identified professionalisation of its administration and re-structuring of its competitions as key targets. During the AFC Annual Awards 2008 Gala at the Shanghai (China), Hammam awarded PFF the Vision Asia - 15th country in line to be part of the AFC Vision Asia programme and among the few countries in 2009 for AFC Vision of Asia. Vision Asia is the creation of AFC President who launched the programme in September 2002. It is the AFCs grand plan for a continent-wide programme to raise the standards of Asian football at all levels, be it on the field of play, administration or sports science.
