ISLAMABAD The Islamabad Basketball Association (IBA) on Saturday announced its 12-member team for the National Womens Basketball Championship scheduled for April 13 to 19, 2010 at Rangers Headquarters in Lahore. IBA Secretary John Sturgess announced the team while President Alamgir Khan was also present on the occasion. Rahila Tabassum will lead Islamabad while Basmah Kamran was named as the Vice Captain. Other members of the team are Palwasha Marwat, Aleeza Sana, Umama Ijaz, Zeenat Zaman, Eman Malik, Ayesha Azhar, Amna Khan, Rida Maheen, Rida Aslam and Iram Shahzadi. Imran Bashir, who is the Associate Secretary of IBA and also a member of the Pakistan Basketball Federations Referees Board, is accompanying the team as coach while Javed Nawaz Bangash will be his assistant. The team will leave for Lahore on Monday (tomorrow). Pakistan WAPDA will defend their crown, which they won after beating Higher Education Commission (HEC). Other teams competing in the tournament are Police, Railways, Rangers, Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan.
