LDA resumes demolition of plaza

LAHORE Lahore Development Authority on Saturday resumed demolition of eleventh floor of 'Big City plaza, situated near Liberty roundabout, in Gulberg. The said floor of this plaza had been constructed in violation of the building plan that had been approved by the LDA. Earlier, the demolition work on this illegally constructed eleventh floor of 'Big City plaza was started on December 7. But the demolition work was suspended as the builder obtained stay order from the court. The Supreme Court of Pakistan vacated the stay order on Friday and allowed LDA to go ahead with demolition work. An estimated 31 thousand square feet area of the plaza will be demolished in the ongoing operation. LDA has established a camp office at the site. Officials of the Town Planning Wing, Engineering Wing and Enforcement Directorate of LDA have been deployed at the site. The demolition work will continue at night as well. The staff will perform duties in various shifts. Two officers repatriated to Islamabad The Punjab government on Saturday relieved two officers of the same department of their duties with the provincial government. Director General Local Government and Community Development Department Hassan Nasir Jami and Deputy Secretary (Admn) LG&CD Department Salman Ahmed have been directed to report to the Services and General Administration Department for further orders. As the OSDs, they have been relieved of their duties with the Punjab government, and directed to report to the Federal Government for further postings.
