QUETTAPakistan Muslim League (N) is gaining strength in Balochistan as another MPA of Balochistan Assembly and many tribal elders from Naseerabad joined the party few days back. Mir Zahoor Hussain Khosa ,MPA, had also remained the former Speaker of Balochistan Assembly. He joined the party under the leadership of Chief of Jhalawan Sardar Sanaullah Zehri after meeting with Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Lahore few days back. Zahoor Hussain Khosa had contested elections independently in 2008 general elections. He was a stalwart of Jamhoori Watan Party till the death of its founder late Nawab Muhammad Akbar Khan Bugti. But after assassination of Nawab Bugti, Zahoor Khosa had parted his ways with the party and joined PML (Q). He did not contest elections on the ticket of PML(Q) rather preferred to fight elections as an independent candidate as he thought there would be no future of Q-League after ouster of its mentor Pervez Musharraf from power. He is a well respected personality of Khosa tribe, one of the influential and biggest tribes of Naseerabad division. Out of five seats of Naseerabad district two seats were won by Khosas in 2008 elections. After joining of Mir Zahoor Hussain Khosa, the number of members of PML-N in Balochistan Assembly has reached three. It is important to mention here that PML-N had failed to bag any seat of Balochistan Assembly or National Assembly from Balochistan but after elections Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq who won from the border town of Chaman joined the party. Later on, Chief of Jhalawan Sardar Sanaullah Zehri and MNA from Balochistan Lt.General (Retd) Abdul Qadir also joined the party. Both Sardar Sanaullah Zehri and Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq are also members of provincial Cabinet. Besides Zahoor Khosa many other influential people from Naseerabad including Mir Attaullah Buledi had also joined the party after their meeting with Mian Nawaz Sharif. Buledi had contested the elections on PPP ticket from PB-25 Jaffarabad and had given a tough contest to late Minister of Balochistan, Mir Rustam Khan Jamali in 2008 elections. PPP did not give ticket to Buledi and awarded it to brother of slain Minister Mir Nasir Khan Jamali in the by-elections from the seat last month. However, Attaullah Buledi contested the elections as an independent candidate and both Sardar Sanaullah Zehri as head of his tribe and PML (N) had supported him which paved the way for him to join PML-N. There are around 18 members of PML(Q) in Balochistan Assembly and majority of them wanted to join PML(N) but some legal problems are hurdle in the way of their political somersault. 'Some of the members had apprised the PML(N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif during their meeting with him last year about their intentions but legal hurdles are the biggest obstacle in their way to put their intention into action, said a source in PML-N. PML-N sources said more tribal elders are ready to join the folds of party in the coming days after joining of party by Chief of Jhalawan Sardar Sanaullah Zehri. Political observers are of the view that though PML (N) could not get any seat of Provincial Assembly and National Assembly from Balochistan in 2008 elections but now it is attracting influential personalities from province in its folds. Keeping in view the gains of PML(N) political observers suggest that party could be one of the strong party in the next elections from Balochistan. According to political observers though Balochistan had got more autonomy and political relief during the current tenure of PPP but intolerable price hike is overshadowing the political relief. They opined that if PPP failed to give relief to people it could not maintain the same position which it obtained due to boycott of elections by nationalist forces.
