MARDAN - Hundreds of activists of Pakistan Peoples Party-Sherpao, Jama'at-i-Islami (JI), Jamiat Ulema-I-Islam-Fazl, Pakistan Muslim league-Quaid (PML-Q) and other opposition parties took out a protest rally against the long duration and unscheduled electricity loadshedding, lawlessness and price hike. The rally was led by MNA and former federal minister Khawaja Muhammad Khan Hoti, Provincial Vice president of PPP-S and President of Aman Jirga NWFP Syed Kamal Shah, ex-MPA and District General Secretary of JUI-F Maulana Amant Shah, District Information Secretary of JUI-F Maulana Qasiruddin, General Secretary of Aman Jirga, NWFP, Arshid Manan and local leader of JI Saeed Akhtar advocate. The protesters chanted slogans against the provincial government, local administration and PESCO authorities. The protesters were holding placards, banners and flags inscribed with anti-government slogans. The rally was changed into a protest meeting at Kutchery Chowk. Addressing the meeting, the speakers said the people of Mardan are fed up with the long duration and unscheduled loadshedding. They said that there was no electricity throughout the night due to which the children and women were facing a lot of problems. They said that due to the loadshedding business of Mardan was totally destroyed. They said that on the other side Pesco authorities sent huge bills and illegally put huge fine on the people. They said that if long duration and unscheduled loadshedding and over-billing were not stopped then they would attack the Pesco offices. They said that renaming of the province and new name Khyber PakhtoonKhawa couldnt resolve the the masses problems. They said that people are facing a lot of problems, while on the other side, the provincial government was celebrating the renaming of province which was a great joke with the people of the province. They said that government should give attention to the problems of the people instead of engaging people in non-issues. They demanded the provincial government has failed to settle the problems of the people, therefore, it is their moral duty to resign from the government. After three hour protesting the protesters dispersed peacefully.
