LAHORE - Punjab University Academic Staff Association (ASA) Saturday continued boycott of educational activities to press their demands for the arrest of the students allegedly involved in torturing a senior faculty member Dr Iftikhar Baloch last week. Following the boycott call by the Punjab University Academic Staff Association, morning, afternoon and evening classes could not be conducted by the teachers whose continuous protest last day entered the 8th day. PU Academic Staff Association has vowed to continue boycott of the classes till arrest of the accused students. Iftikhar Baloch, head of Environmental Science Institute, Punjab University, was attacked and tortured by some students of the department. The varsity administration has got an FIR registered against the students allegedly linked with Islami Jamiat Talba. PPLA demands action against accused Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA) has demanded the government to initiate action against the accused of Prof Iftikhar Baloch torture case otherwise the association will set up strike camp in front of Punjab Assembly. This was decided in General Body meeting of PPLA held here on Saturday, presided over by Prof Majid Wazir. While addressing the meeting, Prof Abid Butt, Prof Hafiz Etebaar, Prof Tauseef Sadiq, Muhammad Kaiffi, Muham-mad Sarwar, Dr Tasneem Frasat, Dr Tahira Ranaa, Shaheen Karamat and others announced their support to the agitation movement. of the academic staff of Punjab University and would participate in their protest from Monday.
