Retired captain shot dead

LAHORE - Three unidentified 'attackers killed a retired captain of Pak Army and shot his two sons injured in South Cantonment Area, Police said on Saturday morning. According to Riaz Ahmed, duty officer at the police station, deceased Majeed Ahmed, 60, woke up for Fajr prayers. As he reached home, three assailants opened fire at him. He said according to the family members of Majeed, after listening the shots, Shehzad Majeed and Faisal Majeed, sons of Majeed, rushed to home and the assailants also sprayed bullets at them leaving them injured. Riaz said no robbery or theft incident took place and it seemed the assailants had reached the victims home to attack the family members as they successfully fled from the scene after committing the offence. He said one of Majeeds sons also served as a Major in the Pak Army. Riaz said, on the complaint of Shehzad, they had registered an FIR against the three accused under charges of murder, attack, attempt to murder and creating law and order by spreading terror in the area. He said the complainant did not cast doubt on any body so far and said they had no enmity with any one. He further said after the incident, a large number of neighbours gathered in the house of victim family at Madina Park and a panic spread in the area. After completing the legal requirements they sent the body to the city mortuary for autopsy and started investigation to arrest the accused, he further said. Police investigator said automatic pistols of 30 bore were used in the incident as they had recovered empties of the bullets. He said Shehzad and Faisal were released from hospital after their medical treatment as their condition was stable.
