LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Tuesday restrained the Sargodha Anti-Terrorism Court from announcing a final decision against former PPP MPA Aslam Madhyana, involved in a schoolteacher, Nafees Khan, torture case.
A division bench headed by Justice Sheikh Najamul Hassan was hearing the petition of accused, Aslam Madhyana, seeking elimination of section 7-ATA (Anti-Terrorism Act) from the case registered against him. He submitted that the punishment for torture and injuries resulting from them, as pointed out in the medical report, was about five years under the law, and there was no evidence that compelled the police to register a case under terrorism sections.
