PDMA asked to ensure steps to tackle monsoon

KARACHI - Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas on Tuesday directed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority and Sindh Rehabilitation Department to take all precautionary measures to cope up with the emergency arising from the coming monsoon season.
The instructions from the chief secretary came following a meeting between World Food Programme delegates and officials of the Sindh government. The UN’s World Food Programme promised support and relief for rain-hit people. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Suhail Akbar Shah submitted a report to the chief secretary about the meeting.  The chief secretary also asked the department and PDMA to ensure early rehabilitation of people affected from the last year’s heavy rainfall across interior Sindh.
He also called a progress report from the PDMA within two days in this context.
