KARACHI – Pakistan International Airlines’ Retired Employees’ Association (PIAREA) President Syed Tahir Hasan on Tuesday congratulated Rao Qamar Suleman for assuming the charge as managing director of the national flag carrier.

In a statement, Hasan said “Your vast administrative, aviation and technical experience will bring the airline out of the present crisis.” He offered the managing director services and cooperation of thousands of retired employees of the PIA. He requested him not to discard the previous management’s approval to set up PIA Foundation for retired employees, saying such a benevolent act should be remembered by coming generations of PIA employees. “The idea of setting up a foundation is no doubt a gigantic task, and for that the association is all available to assist PIA management in any manner like moral support to plan and programmes, providing experienced and meritorious man-power for all levels of employees and launching a camping to collect contribution from serving/retired employees,” said Hasan. Besides all this, the association also requested the MD to raise pension of retired employees from 32 percent to 50 percent as per the government’s rules.
