KARACHI - Three people, among them a child, were killed in separate mishaps in the city on Tuesday.

A minor boy was crushed to death and his father injured near Sultan Mosque in Malir area in the limits of the Malir City Police Station when a speeding bus hit his bicycle at Malir 15.

The deceased was identified as eight-year-old Mohammad Hassan Khan, son of Gul Ahmed Khan. Police impounded the bus while its driver managed to flee. The body and the injured were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The police said the victim was a resident of Gulshan Qadir Railways Colony and used to study at a seminary. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

Separately, a young man was crushed to death at a railway track in Qazafi Town, Landhi, in the limits of the Landhi Railways Police Station. The deceased, identified as 30-year-old Ansar Gull, son of Abdul Ghafoor, a resident of Muzafarabad Colony, was crossing a track when he got crushed by Sukkur Express. The body was shifted to the JPMC for medic-legal formalities.

Separately, police found body of a drowned man from a water treatment plant in bin Qasim in the jurisdiction of the Steel Town Police Station.

The victim, identified as Ameer Jokhio, son of Dost Mohammad Jokhio, was a resident of Shatil Jokhio Goth, Bin Qasim.

The police said he was mentally retard and was missing since Monday.

The body was shifted to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities, where doctors said he died due to suffocation. The body was handed over to the heirs. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

Ebad vows to restore peace in city :  Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan on Tuesday said he would take all necessary steps to restore peace not only in Karachi but in entire Sindh.

He stated this while addressing a press conference at the Governor’s House. He said that strict actions would be taken against those who were trying to negatively affect the city and the entire region with their violent activities. The governor stated that to restore peace within the city and the entire region, each and every political party should join force and try their level best to eradicate the evil. The Governor further stated that there was no feud between the political parties operating within the cities.

Ebad said that innocent people were falling prey to the acts of terrorism continuing within the city saying that PPP and MQM wants action against the terrorists and miscreants to maintain the peace of Karachi.

The governor was also accompanied by the Health Minister, Mr. Sagheer Ahmed, who also stated that his party would try their utmost best to remove the terrorist activities within the city. PPP Karachi President Faisal Abidi, who ruled out any conflict with MQM saying that third force are hatching the conspiracy to destroy the peace of Karachi. He condemned the killing of PPP workers in Karachi.
