UoP, PU enter Inter varsity Women Volleyball semis

PESHAWAR - University of Peshawar (UoP), Lahore College of Women University (LCWU), Punjab University (PU) and Lahore University (LU) booked berth in the semi-finals of the All Pakistan Inter-varsity Women Volleyball Championship being played here at Jinnah College for Women ground on Thursday.
Punjab University outclassed Sargodha University in a one-sided affair as the score was 25-22, 25-17, 25-23. PU fully dominated the play and did not give much time to Sargodha University to settle down. Haleema, Sadia, Aysia, Almas, Shomaila and Ruqia played well for PU while Sargodha University’s Tayyaba, Aysha, Nasreen, Riffat and Noursheed played well and contributed some good points against strong PU.
In the other matches of the League round, Lahore University defeated Peshawar University by 3-0, the score was 25-21, 25-23 and 30-25. University of Peshawar gave tough resistance to Lahore University in the three sets battle. The two teams were even stretched to 30-28 before tied at 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 10-10, 13-13, 16-16, 18-18, 20-20, 21-21, 22-22, 23-23, 24-24, 25-25, 26-26, 27-27, 28-28, and thus University of Lahore won the set by 30-29.
In the other set, University of Lahore won the two more set, to seal the fate of host University of Peshawar at 3-0. For UoP, Nayyab, Huma, Naila, Maria, Kiran Jamil played well while for Lahore, Mehvish, Ghazala, Zaiba, Farzana, Sidra, Rizwana and Irum played well.
In the other match, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan stunned Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University 3-0 in another thrilling match as the score was 25-15, 25-21, 25-23. For Abdul Khan University Mardan Gul Pari, Sundas, Hina, Shahbana played well and for Benazir Shaheed Women University Foiza, Rukhsar, Yusra, Maria, Shahbana and Rabia played well.
In the third match, Islamia Bahawalpur defeated Sargodha by 3-1 as the score was 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21. For Sargodha University, Mumtaz, Mehvish, Nasreen, Anila and Gul Rukh were outstanding while for Islamia Bahawalpur, Sadia, Sabiha, Shahbana and Shazia played well.
In the fourth match, University of Punjab after a thrilling fight defeated Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) by 3-2. The two teams were stretched to five sets battle as the score was 25-19, 19-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-13.
