Rawalpindi   -  Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan has filed a petition with the Lahore High Court seeking directives for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-notify two PML-N politicians Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Ishaq Dar for their failure to take oath as parliamentarians.

Addressing a news conference at PTI Public Secretariat here on Saturday, he said, “According to the ECP rules, an elected representative will automatically be de-seated if he or she does not take oath within 60 days ECP notification regarding result.”

He said that Ishaq Dar was in self-imposed exile and he should return to Pakistan to take oath. He said the ECP should also hold by-election in constituency where Ch Nisar Ali Khan was declared winner but he did not take oath so far. He said the ECP was silent over the defiance of ECP rules by two big PML- N leaders.

Ghulam Sarwar said that he had also raised voice in British Parliament against UK decision to place Pakistan in red list to stop spread of coronavirus. He said Pakistan had to hire charter flights due to ban on national airline PIA for UK.

Commenting on ongoing political tussle in PTI, he said Jahangir Tareen was still part of PTI because he had played pivotal role for uplift of party. He said PM Imran Khan was determined to fight against corrupt elements without any discrimination. “Action is not only taken against Jahangir Tareen in sugar scam but notices have also been served to others including Sardar Nasar Ullah, Pervaiz Elahi and Khusro Bukhtiar and family,” he said.

Ghulam Sarwar Khan ruled out possibility of any forward block’s creation in PTI. “Also Aleem Khan has to get clean chit in corruption charges to become part of cabinet,” he said.

Coming hard on PDM, the minister was of view that the parties in PDM were wrestling with each other. He said PDM would divide into pieces soon. The opposition alliance could not force PM Imran Khan to tender resignation from country’s top office.

Ghulam Sarwar said that focus of PTI was not the PDM but the genuine issues such as unemployment and price hike and the government was committed to overwhelm these issues.
