ISLAMABAD - In the wake of impeachment sword hanging over President Pervez Musharraf's head, Pakistan Muslim League President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has extended his support to PML-N for the success of the impeachment move against his mentor, but received a cold shoulder from the latter, TheNation learnt reliably here on Sunday. "Shujaat has offered the support of 26 PML-Q parliamentarians to PML-N to make the impeachment move successful and in return seeking rapprochement with Mian Nawaz Sharif," claimed the sources. The sources claim that after the ouster of Q-League's creator, President Musharraf, Chaudhrys are left with no option but to return to PML-N. "Chaudhrys of Gujrat through the channel of common friends are trying to lure Nawaz Sharif for union of the two major factions of Pakistan Muslim League," the sources claimed. The well-placed sources told that the PML-N's leadership was reluctant to accept the offer due to its commitment with PPP in which it had committed not to induct 'Q' parliamentarians in the party, as if both PML-N and PML-Q were united, PPP would lose its majority in the Parliament. Responding to Zardari's reservations, central leaders of N-League had assured him not to strike any power-sharing deal with PML-Q, the sources revealed. "If President Musharraf is impeached, the PML-Q would die its natural death, as central command of the party has no strategy to avert the drop scene," noted a PML-Q lawmaker while requesting not to be attributed. He added the collapse of party's creator would shatter the artificial binding force that had been successful so far in sustaining its unity since after February 18 defeat. Background discussion with various party leaders and lawmakers revealed that the emergence of dissident groups within Q-League on the issue of presidential impeachment had not only disappointed Musharraf but had also placed Chaudhrys at the weakest position from where they could move nowhere but towards PML-N. The forward bloc in the Senate led by Nilofar Bakhtiar is supporting President's ouster. "In both cases, whether the President is impeached or he resigns under pressure, it is clear that 'Q' forward bloc is out of the circle of PML-Q," a Senator noted. Another faction in the party is the like-minded group in the National Assembly that consists of Riaz Fatyana, Nasrulah Khan Bijrani, Sardar Israr Khan Tareen and Rana Asif Tauseef. This group has severe differences with Chaudhrys and is unlikely to remain the part of PML-Q any longer. The like-minded group is in constant contact with PPP or PML-N and sources asserted that those parliamentarians would never be the part of Q-League again. "The PML-Q parliamentarians from Seraiki belt including Dewan Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, Muhammad Saddiq Khan Baloch, Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla, Sardar Bahadur Ahmed Khan Sehar, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, and Muhammad Akhtar Khadim Ilyas Khadim Hussain are also fed up with the politics of Chaudhrys and are finding new allies," the sources asserted.
