DPO vows to purge police of 'black sheep

MUZAFFARGARH - District Police Officer (DPO) Rio Munir Zia said that it was very difficult rather impossible to control crimes without public help. It was the basic duty of police to give protection to the life and property of the masses but the police alone could not eradicate crime without the public help. He was talking to newsmen here at DPO Office the other day.The DPO said that the crime rate decreased tremendously in the district and positive result started to appear on the screen soon. Rio Munir directed all the Station House Officers (SHO) to ensure registration of case without any delay. He expressed his determination to make the district police corruption-free and expel black sheep from the department. The DPO came down hard on the sluggish police officials and asked them to speed up their investigation of cases. He also directed police officers to keep check on sluggish and corrupt officials and inform high ups about their involvement in any kind of corrupt practices. He said that problems of the public could be solved in open courts. Rio Munir Zia said that during the last six months the district Muzaffargarh police had recovered huge quantities of weapons and drugs including 5 Kalashanikoves, 1500 guns, 256 rifles, 450 carbines, 701 pistols, 150 revolvers, 1500 cartridges, 350-kg of chars, 2-kg of opium, 1500 bottles of liquor, 32 running distilleries and 350-kg of poppy from drug peddlers.
