FAISALABAD - With only four days left in the celebrations of 64th Independence Day, the preparations for observing the event are gaining momentum in Faisalabad like other parts of the country with every passing day. All young and old ones are planning to enthusiastically participate in the celebrations of Independence Day while utilising the opportunity in the holy month of Ramazan for seeking blessings of Allah Almighty for prosperity of the country. The stalls carrying bunting, flags, banners, stickers and badges set up in different corners of the city are depicting the spirit of patriotism and attracting the people especially youth. Different public and private organisations and departments are planning to arrange seminars, conferences, exhibitions, rallies and discussion programmes to turn the occasion into a colourful festivity. The state was established after a lot of sacrifices. Many mothers lost their sons, many wives lost their husbands and many children lost their fathers and then Pakistan came into being. People gave sacrifices of their lives so that next generations may not face any difficulty and may live a safe life. Independence Day is falling during the holy month of Ramazan, giving chance to hold prayers for progress and prosperity of the country. August 14 is a common date like other days of English calendar for nations but for Pakistani nation, this is the most remarkable day in the history of Pakistan. The country came into being on August 14 while according to Islamic calendar, it was Ramazan 27 when Allah blessed the Muslims with the pious homeland. It also has religious importance as the Holy Quran was revealed on the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in this night. The word 'Pakistan is made by combining two words 'pak and 'stan. Pak means pious and stan means homeland. Therefore, the meaning of Pakistan is homeland of pious people. People gave sacrifices of their lives for independence because they could not follow Islam independently and could not perform their religious duties properly in the Sub-continent. They were punished or disturbed when they perform their religious duties. However, the names of leaders like Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal and Sir Syed Ahmad Khan have been written in golden words in the history of Pakistan. Muhammad Ali Jinnah also known as Quaid-e-Azam is the real founder of Pakistan. Allama Iqbal urged Muslims to earn their own nationality and name in the world. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan brought the Muslim nation forward and made schools and colleges for them so that they might come to know how to fulfil the latest demands of the modern age. Pakistan was made for creating environment just as it was in the period of Hazrat Umer (RA) when he took rounds of the streets in darkness for becoming sure that no one is hungry. She was created creating for promoting the Islamic culture here. We must celebrate 14th August as it is our independence day. We should celebrate the day by thanking to Allah by going to mosques instead of celebrating this day in music parties. We should celebrate this day by brightening our hearts with the light of the teachings of Islam. It is time to be practical and show our love towards our dear homeland by doing something, which may bring Pakistan on the road of success without waiting for anyone who may join us.
