‘288,900 subsidised flour bags supplied to Sasta Bazaars’






RAWALPINDI - District Food Controller Shabbir Khan Niazi has said that so far a total of 288,900 flour bags weighing 10 kg each have been supplied to 18 Sasta Bazaars under the Chief Minister Punjab Ramazan Package.
The stallholders in Ramazan Bazaars have also sold out some 185,000 flour bags at the rate of Rs 230 per head against Rs 240, being sold in open market. For the purpose, Punjab government was giving Rs 10 subsidy on each 10 kg flour bag to the flourmills to provide relief to the consumer in sacred month.
DFC Shabbir Niazi expressed these views while talking to media men here on Friday. He was flanked by Incharge Flour Supply to Ramazan Bazaars Haji Rana Muhammad Zafar and many other government officials. Briefing the DFC, Haji Rana Muhammad Zafar told that the flour was being sold on cheaper rates at the 18 Ramazan Bazaars.
 These Bazaars included 10 in Rawalpindi and Cantonment areas, Nawaz Sharif Park, Haideri Chowk, Rehmanabad, Committee Chowk, Chur Chowk, Gulzar-e-Quaid, Adiala Road and two bazaars at Chungi No 22 besides Gujar Khan, Daultala, Wah Cantt., Taxila, Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kallar Sayedian and Kahuta. He also informed that to  ensure the quality of flour, the samples were being sent to laboratory for test.
 and several mills had been issued notices on the complaint of moisture in the flour.

 He said that a monitoring system had been evolved in District Food Office and Muhammad Ali of the department had been made Incharge of this cell.
The reports about the supply of flour were being obtained from mills on daily basis and being submitted to DCO office for information. The supply of flour would be continued till the end of this sacred month, he added.
