LAHORE – Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal on Friday paid surprise visits to different areas of the City to inspect the arrangements made by the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) for pumping out rainwater from Mozang Chowk, Lawrence Road, Davis Road, Ek Moria Pul and Jail Road.

The DCO strictly directed Wasa officials to gear up activities for pumping out rainwater from these low-lying areas. He stated that the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) was working to provide smooth travelling facilities to the citizens.

Also, the Lahore DCO on Friday inspected security arrangements of the procession on the occasion of Youm-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Ali (RA). Talking to the media at Karbala Gammay Shah, he said as many as 4,000 police personnel had been deployed to provide security to the participants of the procession.

Mengal stated that Police, Civil Defense, Rescue 1122, Health and other line departments were on high alert; while all emergency wards of City hospitals were fully prepared in case of any untoward incident.

The DCO further said secret close circuit cameras had been installed at different places and a control room had also been set up at the DCO Office, from where Lahore Division Commissioner Jawad Rafique, the district coordination officer, MNAs and MPAs would monitor the procession.
