ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has raised objections to Indian plan of building power plant at River Chenab.

According to a private TV channel, India had presented the blueprint of the project to Pakistani authorities in June 2012, which Pakistan has returned to India with certain objections. Pakistan has returned the file to Indian Commissioner Sindh Taas Oranga Nath.

In a letter addressed to Oranga Nath, Pakistan has asked India not to start work on the ‘Meyar Project’, without addressing the Pak reservations.

Pakistan authorities objected to diverting of a Chenab River tributary, construction of 25 feet high wall around the lake and raising its bed to 770 feet height.

The project aims at producing 120 mw electricity.  According to the plan construction work on this project was to be started in October this year.
