MULTAN - The traders of Shaheen Market and adjoining trading centres staged a protest demonstration against Wasa for its failure in draining out sewage here on Friday.

Hundreds of traders from Shaheen Market, Old Sabzi Mandi and Urdu Bazaar Bohar Gate gathered on the road and shouted slogans against Wasa.

The protesters were led by Ch Riaz Shaheen, Khalid Sagheer, Abdul Sattar and other trader leaders. They blocked the road and burnt tyres as a sign of protest. Talking to the journalists, they said that Shaheen Market had turn into a lake of sewage for the last one month but Wasa did nothing for the disposal of this water despite repeated requests by the traders. They regretted that the sewerage problem completely ruined their business as a result of which their families were exposed to starvation.

They declared an open war against WASA, saying the traders would encircle Wasa offices and officials and lock up their rooms if the issue was not resolved forthwith.
